Welcome to the TRANSIMS Open Source Community! This is the place to start if you are new to the community or have never used TRANSIMS before.

Using TRANSIMS

If you are a beginner, TRANSIMS can be quite overwhelming. This is a simple guide to help you through the process of downloading, installing and running the latest version of TRANSIMS. This section also provides information on where you can get guidance on applying the software and a description of the methods used in TRANSIMS for modeling travel behaviors and regional transport systems.

Getting Involved with the Community

What does open source mean for TRANSIMS? What is the motivation for starting the TRANSIMS open source community?  Watch this 20-minute long video presentation on the motivation for starting the TRANSIMS Open Source Community.

For details on the structure and governance of the TRANSIMS open source community, including the foundational principles and key membership roles, please see this video presentation on the structure and governance of the community.

Participating in the open source community will help you seek assistance from your peers on TRANSIMS application and development. You will have access to peer-reviewed methods and source code. Finally, your involvement will lead to higher community visibility and professional recognition. Below are specific ways you can get involved with the community:

  • If you haven't registered yet, please do so for better access to resources available through the web site. Click here to register.
  • Visit the forums to share your ideas with the community and get assistance on using the software. Please first check out the Announcements forum for guidelines on selecting the most appropriate forum. You have to be a registered user to post on the forums.
  • Become an active member of the community by joining any one of the community work groups or clusters as a friend. Check here for instructions on how to become a friend.
